Sudan

Recent News Updates …

Just before Christmas, GOOGLE decided to make their special doodle for Sudan, the last remaining male white rhino.

Here is the Wikipedia info on Sudan and the direct link to GOOGLE’s information.

And thank you to all of the wonderful zoologists and assistants that took care of Sudan over the years and here’s to hoping that someday soon we will be able to use Sudan’s DNA material to make new Sudan’s.

WIKIPEDIA:

Sudan

(1973 – 19 March 2018) was a captive northern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum cottoni) that lived at the Dvůr Králové Zoo in the Czech Republic from 1975[3] to 2009 and the rest of his life at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia, Kenya.[4] At the time of his death, he was one of only three living northern white rhinoceroses in the world, and the last known male of his subspecies. Sudan was euthanised on 19 March 2018, after suffering from “age-related complications”.[5]
